To celebrate our fifth anniversary (considered the “wood” anniversary in the U.S.), we offered Release 016, our first release of whiskey fully matured in 100% French Oak.
This is the second single cask release we offered exclusively from the distillery and like all Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey, this release was made from 100% malted barley and twice-distilled in traditional copper stills. But distinctive from previous releases, this whiskey was matured for 38 months in a full-size, new, French Oak barrel with a light (#1) char.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of apple skins, nutmeg, and sweet cream. Flavors start with dark cherry, then lead to more stewed fruit and figs. Finish is long and dry, with maple, white pepper, and burnt cream.
750ml, 58.9% ABV. Originally a limited release of only 200 bottles.
