Part of our Single Variety Malt series, Release 020 is distilled from a barley variety named “Alba,” grown by Knutzen Farms, located 70 miles north of Copperworks in Washington State’s Skagit Valley. The barley was malted at nearby Skagit Valley Malting.
We knew from the start that the Alba was going to make great whiskey. The beer we started with was richer and more fragrant, with deeper fruit aromas, than any malt we’d ever used.
The whiskey was twice-distilled and matured for 34 months in full-size, charred, new American Oak barrels. The flavors of the Alba malt really shine through, giving rich dried fruit and dark sugar flavors and aromas to the whiskey, along with floral and spice notes.
750ml, 50% ABV. Originally a limited single-cask release of only 262 bottles.
